RowCounter Privacy Policy

This policy describes how the RowCounter iPhone and Apple Watch apps handle information.

Summary

RowCounter is an offline-first knitting and crochet row counter. It does not require an account or login. Project information stays on the devices you use. The developer does not operate a cloud database, analytics SDK, advertising network, or tracking system for this app.

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to the RowCounter iPhone app and the RowCounter Apple Watch app. It describes the developer’s handling of information in those apps. It does not replace Apple’s privacy practices for the App Store, Apple Account, StoreKit, WatchConnectivity, or the device operating system.

Information stored on your devices

RowCounter stores information locally so the app can count rows and keep your projects. Depending on how you use the app, this may include:

• project names and settings, such as craft type, row or round counting, starting count, current count, optional target, tool size, and yarn notes
• project status such as active or completed, and related timestamps
• which project is currently active
• app preferences, such as craft preference, onboarding completion, sound, and haptics
• a random local device identifier used only to coordinate iPhone and Apple Watch project sync
• a local Premium entitlement cache used to restore the last verified purchase state on launch, such as product identifier, access state, and validity window

This information is stored in local app files and on-device preferences (including UserDefaults). The developer does not receive a copy of your project list through a RowCounter server.

Accounts and identity

RowCounter does not create user accounts. It does not ask you to sign in. It does not collect your name, email address, or payment-card details inside the app.

iPhone and Apple Watch synchronization

If you use RowCounter on a paired iPhone and Apple Watch, the apps may exchange project information and a verified Premium access snapshot using Apple WatchConnectivity. That exchange happens through Apple’s device-pairing channel between your paired devices. It is not CloudKit. It is not a developer-operated backend. It is not a third-party project database.

A device that is not paired, not reachable, or does not have the app installed will not receive that local sync traffic.

Purchases

RowCounter Premium is required to use the app. Purchases are processed by Apple through StoreKit. Current in-app purchase options are Monthly, Yearly, and Lifetime. Purchases are offered on iPhone. The Watch app does not include purchase or restore interface.

Apple processes payment. RowCounter does not receive your payment-card number, billing address, or Apple Account password. Apple may keep purchase and subscription records under Apple’s own policies. RowCounter reads StoreKit entitlements on the device to unlock Premium features and may store a local copy of that entitlement state. A compact entitlement snapshot may also be sent to a paired Apple Watch over WatchConnectivity so the Watch app can reflect the same access.

Subscription management, billing questions, refunds, and Apple Account payment methods are handled by Apple.

Tracking, analytics, and advertising

RowCounter does not use a third-party analytics SDK. It does not include advertising. It does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework to track you across other companies’ apps or websites. The app’s privacy manifests set tracking to false.

The app may write ordinary on-device logs that remain on your device unless you choose to share them, for example when reporting a problem.

What RowCounter does not do

• no CloudKit container for project data
• no developer backend or remote project database
• no analytics SDK
• no advertising
• no sale of personal information by RowCounter, because RowCounter does not operate a service that collects your project data for that purpose

Retention and deletion

Local project and preference data remains on a device until you remove it or remove the app.

• Deleting a project in RowCounter removes that project from the local store on that device. If the other paired device is still using the app, later WatchConnectivity sync may also remove it there.
• Deleting the RowCounter app from a device deletes the local RowCounter files and preferences on that device.
• Deleting the app from one device does not by itself erase data that still exists on a paired device until you delete the data or the app there.

Apple purchase and subscription records are retained by Apple according to Apple’s policies. Uninstalling RowCounter does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple Account subscription settings.

The developer cannot remotely delete local project data from your devices, because that data is not stored on a RowCounter server.

Children

RowCounter is a general craft utility. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through a RowCounter account or backend, because it has neither.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated text will be posted at this page with a new effective date. Continued use of RowCounter after an update means you are using the app under the posted policy.
