Learn German is an offline app for beginners. Study the alphabet, words, phrases, and quizzes on iPhone and iPad. Optionally send a small study list to Apple Watch.
No account is required. Learning content and your progress stay on your devices.

This page is the App Store support destination for Learn German. Use the troubleshooting steps below first. For an issue this page does not cover, contact the developer through the Learn German product page on the App Store (the Support link on that listing points here).
Pronunciation does not play
- Turn the device volume up and disable Silent Mode if you expect speaker output.
- Confirm Settings → Sound effects is on for tap and quiz sounds. Pronunciation uses a separate play control on learning cards.
- German text-to-speech needs a German voice installed on the device. On iPhone, open Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices and download a German voice if none is present.
- The app does not use the microphone and does not record your voice.
Apple Watch is empty
- Install Learn German on iPhone, then install the Learn German Watch app from the Watch app on iPhone.
- On iPhone, open Learn German → Watch, choose words or phrases, and send the plan. The Watch shows that list; it does not download a catalog from the internet.
- Keep Watch and iPhone paired. A saved plan can remain on the Watch when the iPhone is not reachable, but the first send needs the Watch app installed.
Wrong translation language
Open Settings and set Translation language. That changes learner glosses and interface language. German text on cards does not change.
Progress, favorites, or quiz misses disappeared
Those items are stored only on the device. Deleting the app, clearing device storage, or setting up a new device without a full device backup removes them. Learn German does not sync progress to a developer cloud.
Notifications and accounts
Learn German does not create user accounts. There is nothing to sign in to and no account-deletion flow. The Watch study window is stored with your local plan; this version does not send remote push notifications from a developer server.
